ART SG übernimmt ab 2026 die Organisation von S.E.A. Focus und verleiht der südostasiatischen Kunstszene neue Strahlkraft. Die Plattform, 2019 von STPI – Creative Workshop & Gallery gegründet, startete in den Gillman Barracks, später im Tanjong Pagar Distripark. Ab 2026 wird sie im Herzen von ART SG im Marina Bay Sands stattfinden und lokale wie internationale Besucher vereinen – eine Allianz, die Singapur weiter als globalen Treffpunkt für zeitgenössische Kunst etabliert.

Seit ihrem Start im Auftrag des National Arts Council ist S.E.A. Focus zum festen Bestandteil der Singapore Art Week geworden. Sie bot Künstlern aus Südostasien eine Bühne mit globaler Reichweite. Mit der Übernahme durch ART SG beginnt eine neue Phase.

Emi Eu, Executive Director von STPI, bleibt künstlerische Beraterin, John Tung übernimmt die kuratorische Leitung 2026: „STPI took the helm of S.E.A. Focus in 2019 with a vision to build a distinctive platform where the best artistic talents from the region could be elevated onto the global stage. With the invaluable support and trust from NAC, each edition continued to surpass the previous, establishing itself as a vital platform in the region’s art ecosystem today. I look forward to being a part of this new chapter of S.E.A. Focus together with ART SG, as we embrace a fresh format while staying true to its commitment in championing Southeast Asian contemporary art.“

Tay Tong, Director Visual Arts des National Arts Council, sagte: „We have seen the growth of S.E.A. Focus since its inception in 2019. With ART SG assuming stewardship of S.E.A. Focus, we look forward to ART SG building on the good work of STPI to continue to develop S.E.A. Focus as a major showcase dedicated to contemporary art in Southeast Asia.“

Magnus Renfrew, Mitbegründer von ART SG, betonte: „We are honoured to build on the strong foundations established with S.E.A. Focus and look forward to working with Emi and John on an exceptional January 2026 edition. Mit Singapore Art Week 2026 vom 22. bis 31. Januar und S.E.A. Focus vom 23. bis 25. Januar präsentiert sich ein kraftvolles Doppel, das Singapur endgültig als Drehscheibe für die zeitgenössische Kunstwelt etabliert.

Ein Blick zurück: Bei seiner dritten Ausgabe 2025 zeigte ART SG 106 Galerien aus 30 Ländern mit groß angelegten Installationen, Filmprogrammen und Talk-Formaten.
